2004 2 DRIVER THUNDER CAR RULES 
FOR CJ RACEWAY
Engine Claiming Rules and Procedures
1. The purpose of this class is for entry level participants to have FUN.
2. Any full body passenger car. Except NO cameros, firebirds, 4-wheel drives, or
convertibles.
3. 2 drivers are required. The gas pedal is to be located on the right side and is to be
operated by the right side driver only.
4. The car body and frame is to be COMPLETELY STOCK.
5. All glass, lights, mirrors, chrome, and combustible material must be removed.
6. All doors must be welded, chained or bolted shut. Battery must be securely mounted
in an enclosed container. 2-window nets.
7. Stock gas tank must be removed. Fuel cell or boat gas tank must be securely fastened
in the trunk. Fire wall must be installed between trunk and driver compartment.
8. Full 4 post roll cage with X brace in rear, securely welded to the frame. Three
horizontal door bars on each side. Minimum .095 tubing at least 1.667 outside diameter
for cages and door bars.
9. Suspension, Transmissions, Rear ends, Shocks, Engine, 1-2 barrel carburetor, and Exhaust
must be stock for that make and model of car. NO LOCKED or LIMITED SLIP REAR
ENDS!!!!!
9a. Tires must be DOT approved passenger tires with 7" max width. No recaps. No mud and snow tires. No studded tires, no shaving or grooving allowed.
10. Cars must be clearly numbered with contrasting colors 24” high + 3” wide on both
sides, no more than 3 numbers.
11. Drivers are required to wear approved helmet, driver's suit, and racing seat belts. Racing seat and gloves recommended.
12. Restricter plate will be required on all cars and will be furnished by track.
Engine Claiming Rules and Procedures
1. $300 cash claim; $275 for engine + $25 for the wrecker or $100 exchange, $50 to
wrecker, and $50 to claimed car. (sellers choice).
2. Claim does not include: 1. flywheel, 2. clutch, 3. pressure plate, 4. bellhousing, 5.
carburetor, 6. starter, 7. motor mounts, 8. fan and pulleys, 9. water pump, 10. fuel
pump, 11. distributor, 12. plug wires.
3. First four positions in the feature must report directly to claim area and are subject to
engine claim by any other driver finishing fifth on back but still on the lead lap in the
feature. Driver may make only one claim per event, regardless of the outcome. In case of
multiple claim, engine will go to driver finishing in the lowest position.
4. Driver making claim must drive his car directly to claiming area under its own power,
stay in car, and present officials the money. Only drivers with cars and officials are
allowed in claiming area.
5. No driver may claim more than twice per year regardless of outcome.
6. Driver must have competed in 50% of the races for the year to claim and have
competed in the last 2 events.
7. Only driver may sell or refuse to sell, first sell or no sell is binding.
8. Refusal to sell will result in disqualification, loss of all money and trophy for that night,
all track points for the season, 2 race suspension, and a cash fine of $400 to be paid before
being allowed to race again.
9. Any sabotage to claimed engine will result in same penalty as refusal.
Any changes or exceptions to these rules will be up to the track officials and will take
precedence over printed rules.
This is strictly an entry level novice class for fun. If you want to go faster or
by trick parts, there are 4 other classes you may compete in.
