FINKE & YAKLE MAKE FIRST TRIPS TO VICTORY LANE

Trophies were sponsored by Fat Boy Pizza on Friday, May 18th which saw Travis Yakle and Travis Finke score their first feature wins in the 4 cylinder and IMCA stock class respectively while Jeremy Tompkins repeated in the hobby stock, Jeff Guengerich made another late model trip to victory lane, and Duane Rees went 3 out of 4 in the CJ Cruiser class.

Travis Finke was in first for the IMCA feature with Dave Hemsted in second and Aaron Summy soon making his way into third. The top three continued to battle for the first place spot with them going three wide many times. On lap 9, Summy took second. One lap later Hemsted and Summy sandwiched Finke at the flagstand with Summy taking the lead, but Finke quickly moved back into first and Hemsted followed in second. Coming around for the checkers a caution was thrown for contact between Trent Vrchoticky, Brandon Jay, and Darrin Ealy, ending the race on the white flag. Finke takes his first win of the year with Hemsted in second and Summy in third. Summy has the point lead with Brandon Jay and Tad Payne tied for second.

The 4 cylinder feature saw a lot of three wide racing with Daniel Keltner leading the pack with Devon Timmerman in second for the first lap before Travis Yakle took over the second place spot. Keltner was able to hold off Yakle for 4 laps before Yakle took the lead coming out of turn 4. Yakle went on to score the feature win with Keltner taking second and Randy Foor finishing third.

A new format was seen with the hobby stocks and CJ Cruisers when due to low numbers their feature was combined. Both classes took to the track at the same time but they were scored seperately. Jeremy Tompkins led the hobby stock half of the feature to make it two in a row. Doug Eichelberger had held second for the first half of the race before Brian Holmes made his way from last place to take the second place spot, putting Eichelberger in third. Tompkins went on to repeat with Holmes taking second and Eichelberger third. Duane Rees was the first CJ Cruiser with Matt Gomez in second for the first 8 laps of the race when Gomez dropped out of the race, moving Darren Wilson into second and Troy Wonders into third. Rees went on to pick up his third feature win with Gomez taking second and Wonders third.

Jeff Guengerich had the point in the late model feature with Kurt Kile in second and Jay Chenoweth in third when Stan O'Brien pulled a caution on lap 2 when he hit the wall in turn 4. O'Brien was able to keep running, but restarted on the tail end. Kevin Kile used the restart to move into the third place spot behind brother Kurt, but one lap later Chenoweth took the third place spot back. Guengerich scored his second feature win of the year with Kurt Kile taking second and Chenoweth third.

Paul Hallett had the early lead in the mod-lite feature with Troy Philpot in second and Jerame Mowery in third. Philpot took the lead on lap 4 right before a caution for Erik Close who broke a tire going into turn 1. Philpot led the rest of the race, taking the win with Hallett taking second and Close third.

Next week will see CJ Raceway do double duty with their regularly scheduled program on Friday night and Sprint Invaders on Sunday, May 27th along with Mod-lites and 4 cylinders.
