TIMMERMAN, TOMPKINS, AND BOYSE MAKE FIRST 2007 TRIPS TO VICTORY LANE
MOD-LITES DEBUT

Mod-lites made their 2007 debut at the CJ Raceway with Greg Russell scoring the win. Devon Timmerman, Jeremy Tompkins, and Ron Boyse made their first trips to victory lane in the 4 cylinder, hobby stock, and late model classes respectively while Aaron Summy made it two in a row in the IMCAs and Duane Rees picked up his second feature win in the CJ Cruiser class. Trophies were sponsored by Columbus Junction Auto Supply.

Devon Timmerman dominated the 4 cylinder feature leading the entire race with Tyler Whalen in second for the first 6 laps. Coming around for the white flag Geoffrey Theobald made his way into second. Theobald was looking to threepeat and was side by side with Timmerman coming out of turn 4 for the checkers. The drivers were bouncing off of each other when they took the checkers with Timmerman granted the win. Geoffrey Theobald took second with brother Andrew Theobald finishing third.

Jeremy Tompkins led the hobby stock feature with Brian Tipps in second and Bill Faler in third. The caution was out on lap 3 for Brian Holmes on the backstretch. On the restart it's Tompkins, Tipps, and Faler. Five laps later Tipps started to fade with Faler moving into second. Two laps later Holmes followed to take third. Tompkins holds on for his first feature win of the season, Faler takes second, with Holmes in third.

Brad Ewart, Dave Hemsted, and Aaron Summy made up the top 3 in the IMCA feature when Justin Gesling's tire broke causing a caution on lap 1. On the restart it's Ewart, Hemsted, and Summy, but they continued to battle for the lead shuffling positions and 3 laps later Hemsted was on top with Summy in second and Ewart in third. On lap 5 the caution was thrown for debris from Darrin Ealey after which three cars on the backstretch encountered problems resulting in Randy Phillips and Brad Ewart in the pits for the night. Tad Payne made a pit stop and was back out on the track, but just two laps later, he was in the pits for the rest of the night too. Hemsted had the lead with Summy in second and Brandon Jay in third. With just 3 laps to go Summy took the lead and went on to repeat last week's feature win. Hemsted took second but was disqualified in tech, moving Jay into second and Trent Vrchoticky into third.

Ron Boyse, fresh off a heat win, had the point on the Pepsi Late Model feature with Kevin Kile in second and Kurt Kile in third. Boyse went on to score the feature win in the flag-to-flag race. Kevin Kile took second with brother Kurt Kile taking third.

Faced with the possibility of being put in with the hobby stock class, the CJ Cruisers doubled their car count. Duane Rees was out front with Matt Gomez in second and Darren Wilson in third. Brett Timmerman made one lap before retiring to the pits. Rees held off Gomez to take his second win of the season. GOmez took second with Wilson finishing in third.

Troy Philpot was out front in the mod-lite feature with Greg Russell in second for the first 6 laps when a caution was pulled for Paul Hallett in turn 4. On the restart James Chesmore spun in turn 1 pulling another caution. On the second restart, Hallett jumped, sending him to the back. Russell used the restart to take the lead. He held Philpot off the last four laps to pick up the win with Philpot finishing second and David Norton in third.

The mod-lites will be back next week with trophies sponsored by Fat Boy Pizza.
